Tinubu Offers Ganduje Ambassadorial Post to Shield Him from Corruption Charges

President Bola Tinubu has reportedly offered Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), an ambassadorial position in any African country, according to credible sources who spoke with DAILY NIGERIAN.

Reliable insiders, who requested anonymity, confirmed that Tinubu had instructed Senate President Godswill Akpabio to deliver the “unpleasant news” to Ganduje.

According to the sources, Akpabio informed Ganduje that Tinubu’s offer of an ambassadorial post was a strategic move to shield him from ongoing corruption cases he faces in Kano.

Ganduje, whose 2018 bribery scandal video caused significant public ridicule, is currently facing corruption charges involving his wife, son, and other high-profile individuals, with accusations amounting to over N50 billion in Kano State.

However, internal sources revealed that Ganduje expressed displeasure and rejected the President's offer, asserting that the charges against him were "unfounded" and that he would emerge victorious in court.

“After all the support I have given the President, this is the reward I get? Besides, I am too old to be sent abroad as an ambassador. All the accusations against me are baseless, and I will win my case in court,” Ganduje was quoted as saying in response to Akpabio.

The sources further indicated that the President later informed Ganduje of his diplomatic plans, offering him the choice of "any African country."

However, some sources revealed that Tinubu preferred to send Ganduje to Chad as an ambassador, noting that "no reputable country in Europe or Asia would accept Ganduje as an ambassador given the numerous corruption allegations against him."

Despite this, sources confirmed that Ganduje is adamant about retaining his position as party chairman and has reportedly sought the intervention of key Tinubu allies, such as Bisi Akande, to persuade the President to reconsider his decision.
